Parallel and Series Circuits

A parallel circuit is a type of circuit where the components are connected acroos from each other, so that current can flow independently. If one branch is disconnected all branches will be disconnected.

Voltage is the same throghout. The current is not. You must use Ohm's law to determine the current based of the voltage and resistance.

The overall resistance in a parallel circuit is equal to the sum of the reciprocal of all resistances.

series circuitSeries Circuits
Series Circuits are much simpler. Current only goes one way . If there are multiple loads connected to series circuit and one of them fials, all of the loads will be disconnected. Resistance is added together to find the together to find the total resistance.
